Hand finished stylised ‘ Totorere Shell link ‘ slider pendant (solid) in sterling silver from my ‘Beach Treasures ‘ collection .

NOTE: chain feeds through the top of the pendant so the shell will move/flip more . Best worn on a standard 45cm chain so the shell sits flat against the chest .

  • Symbolism: Represents strength, resilience, and enduring beauty, as the shell withstands the ocean’s force.
  • Name: Totorere (Māori) or Large Ostrich Foot (English).
  • Scientific Name: Struthiolaria papulosa.
  • Appearance: A spindle-shaped shell with a spiral of sharp knobs and brown streaks.
  • Eroded Form: The heavy lip breaks off and washes ashore as smooth, ring-like shapes, often called “totorere rings” or “ostrich foot rings”.
