These are a smaller modified version of my popular Totorere Shell Link earrings (which Ive been doing for over 20yrs!)

The originals were moulded  off of actual shell found on Mount Maunganui beach, then stylised.

This version shell is 2cm length . Total length 3.5cm

  • Symbolism: Represents strength, resilience, and enduring beauty, as the shell withstands the ocean’s force.
  • Name: Totorere (Māori) or Large Ostrich Foot (English).
  • Scientific Name: Struthiolaria papulosa.
  • Appearance: A spindle-shaped shell with a spiral of sharp knobs and brown streaks.
  • Eroded Form: The heavy lip breaks off and washes ashore as smooth, ring-like shapes, often called “totorere rings” or “ostrich foot rings”.
